Backstory #1

We initially launched Ami on X (Twitter) and didn't get around to making a changelog page. So this is to sort of act as a historical reference of everything pre-desktop Ami.
A bit of history
We initially started with a in-browser annotation -> agent tool. This went super viral on X, but we realized that it was more of a feature than a product. So we split it into two:
- Ami is our coding agent
- React Grab - in browser annotation -> agent
Then, we relaunched again, focusing on the frontend capabiltiies of Ami. You could build quick frontend prototype in <10s AND do real code editing. This also blew up, but we ended up scrapping the prototype feature. It wasn't as useful in real life as we thought, and our ultimate goal is to support developers to create productive software, not slop.
In present day, Ami is a desktop coding agent software. It might change (in fact we're sure it will), but our end goal is to create the best possible experience for you to code with AI.
